Maven has appointed five senior staff members to partnership positions. The strengthening of its partnership base reflects Maven’s continued growth and the wider range of investment opportunities it now offers. The newly promoted partners are Colin Anderson (Property), Suzanne Lupton (Co-investment), Ewan MacKinnon (Private Equity), David Milroy (Private Equity) and Andrew Whiteley (Property).
Colin Anderson joined Maven in 2014 after 11 years in various Corporate Banking and Real Estate Finance roles with The Royal Bank of Scotland. A chartered accountant, Colin has been instrumental in growing the Maven property business from five assets in 2009 and £41m Gross Development Value (GDV), to 23 assets and £295m GDV prior to recent exits this year. Colin has led or co-led eight investments with a value of £135m, and raised total equity of £47m.
Suzanne Lupton joined Maven in 2010 after 23 years with Bank of Scotland, notably working with high net worth customers in Scotland and London. Suzanne has played a pivotal role in the growth and development of the Maven Investor Partners business, growing the assets under management from less than £10m to its current £128m.
Ewan MacKinnon joined Maven in 2009, and was promoted to Investment Director in 2011. Ewan has been an integral member of the private equity team, leading on a number of successful exits from Maven’s oil and gas portfolio, including XPD8 Solutions, MSIS and EFC Group. Ewan is also responsible for Maven’s input into HM Treasury and HMRC on technical and policy matters via the VCT Association.
David Milroy joined the team in 2007 and led the opening of Maven’s Edinburgh office in 2011. He has completed a number of VCT, private equity and mezzanine fund investments since that time and has secured recent profitable exits for Maven clients from the investments in Crawford Scientific, Endura and Calnex, all deals he originally led.
Andrew Whiteley joined Maven in July 2013 to help further advance Maven’s diversification into property investment and development and has been instrumental in the division’s growth. Key to this has been Andrew’s relationship with Hong Kong and Singapore based investment group, IP Investment Management (IPIM), in which he has collaborated on eight high value property development projects.
“We are very pleased to announce these partnership promotions, which reflect the excellent contribution each individual has made to helping to grow the Maven business. These colleagues come from a range of disciplines across the firm and have all been with Maven for a considerable number of years, illustrating the firm’s strong corporate culture and teamwork ethos. The appointments are timely as they come at a time when Maven has taken on a number of new client funds focused on debt and equity solutions for private companies, alongside a rapidly growing property business."
