Mike Collis

Mike joined the forerunner to Maven, Aberdeen Asset Mangers in 2001 and rose to the position of Head of Portfolio in 2006. Mike personally manages six Maven investments and provides regular support in other live portfolio businesses. In addition, he serves on Maven’s credit committee, has general oversight responsibilities over the private equity and growth portfolio and provides support in dispute resolution and litigation projects.

Mike spent 7 years with Arthur Andersen where he qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992. This was followed by senior financial management and director roles with Wordsworth Holdings plc, a construction equipment manufacturing group and Phipps Faire which was along established mercer and converter of textiles. In 2001 Mike joined Aberdeen Asset Managers Private Equity as a portfolio manager.

He has a degree in Economics and Econometrics from the University of Manchester and is a Fellow of the Institute for Turnaround. In 2020 Mike was invited to become an Honorary Fellow of the University of Nottingham Business School where he has been a regular visiting lecturer on the MA and MBA course over the past 5 years.

Outside of work Mike enjoys running, golf and walking. He is a long-suffering season ticket holder of Stoke City FC. When not reliving his youth watching old punk bands at Rock City he can be spotted tearing around the streets of Nottingham on his motor scooter.
